Korean skin and beauty products are taking the world by storm – but why? Some of it has to do with the spread of South Korean pop culture and how all things Korean – food, dramas, makeup, movies, music, and skincare have propagated throughout the world through social media and online platforms. Much of this wave radiates off the music, K-pop, with artists like PSY, Wonder Girls, and BTS, whose edgy look and style attract global fans.

Seoul is the capital of the beauty world.

The world may just be learning about K-Beauty, but Korean women have a long history of demanding the best in skincare and makeup. They are taught from a very early age that beautiful skin is essential, and they do whatever it takes to make sure they always look their best.

 

The Beauty Capital of the World

Industry insiders and consumers alike are nothing short of obsessed with Korean beauty. Marie Claire dubbed Korea the new skincare superpower, estimating K-Beauty brands to be 12 years ahead of global skincare innovation. Why the infatuation? Simply put, Koreans are some of the most demanding beauty consumers in the world. Those standards are what keep the Korean beauty industry continually striving to innovate and deliver. Korean consumers also have a voracious appetite for skincare, which in turn helps fund extensive research and development. With thousands of beauty brands all competing for market share, the result is a hyper-competitive, innovative industry that shaping the beauty world.

We decided that we needed to check out what all the hype was about for ourselves. Recently, we took a trip to Korea to attend the largest skincare show in the world – the K-Beauty Expo in Seoul, Korea. We were not disappointed! Hundreds of vendors displaying a dizzying array of skincare and beauty products for four days, we did our best to bring back what we felt our clients would benefit from and thoroughly enjoy.

We have curated a fun and exciting Holiday Boutique at Refine Dermatique full of beauty and skincare products directly from Seoul Korea! We also added in a few other things that we thought were just plain cool.

 

Launching this holiday season, our Holiday Pop-Up Shop is a carefully curated collection of over seventy-five fun, unique beauty items, accessories, and stocking stuffers– most of which were brought back from South Korea. The Holiday Pop-Up Shop will be available both in-office and online.
